Dear reader,

You are now reading the sixth newsletter from the association Knowledge for the Harmonious Development of Man. The purpose of the association is "to in Sweden and internationally spread and promote the knowledge about reality, the esoteric world and life view, especially Pythagoras' doctrine of knowledge, hylozoics, as it has been produced by Henry T. Laurency and Lars Adelskogh".

The purpose of this newsletter is primarily to inform about news on the association's website (www.veidos.org) and about newly published books on knowledge of life from the association's own Dodekaeder Publishing House, as well as other things of interest regarding the association's activities. Until now, we have published a quarterly newsletter in connection with the equinoxes and the solstices, however we will now turn to a biannual newsletter. The next newsletter will thus be published on December 21, 2022, that is, the day of the winter solstice.

The Website

During the past period, we have not developed the website in any other way than that we have added a new quote from Henry T. Laurency on its first page, the same quote that appears at the end of this newsletter.

Library for Knowledge of Life

The association's library has now been given a name! Considering the books it contains, we are convinced that Library for Knowledge of Life is an appropriate and expressive name.

In our project to digitize valuable books, we have reached the stage where we have identified suitable post scan processing programs in order to achieve high-quality and searchable facsimile copies in pdf format. After the summer, we plan to get started with the actual digitization work. We still aim to develop a more advanced search function for the digital books before the end of the year.

Our work continues to bring forth the books that have their given place in the library. We intend to add more books by Annie Besant over the next few weeks, one of these is The Mystery of Love and Hate. Below is an excerpt from the said book.

***

“To the great majority of us life presents a series of tangles and puzzles—tangles we cannot unravel, puzzles we cannot solve. Why are people born differing so widely in mental and in moral capacity? Why has one infant a brain denoting great intellectual and moral power, while another has a brain which marks him out as one who will be an idiot or a criminal? Why has one child good and loving parents and favourable circumstances, while another has profligate parents who detest him, and is reared amid the foulest surroundings? Why is one 'lucky' and another 'unlucky'? Why does one die old and another die young? Why is one person prevented by 'accidents' from catching a steamer or a train that is wrecked, while scores or hundreds of others perish unaided? Why do we like one person the moment we see him, while we as promptly dislike another?

Questions like these are continually arising, and are as continually left unanswered, and yet answers are within reach; for all these seeming incongruities and injustices, these apparently fortuitous events, are merely the results of the working out of a few simple and fundamental natural laws. An understanding of these underlying laws makes life intelligible, thereby restoring our confidence in the divine order and endowing us with strength and courage to meet the vicissitudes of fortune. Troubles which strike us like 'bolts from the blue" are hard to bear, but troubles which arise from causes we can understand, and can therefore control, can be faced with patience and resignation.”

Dodekaeder Publishing House

The publishing business is continuously very active. To begin with, we can announce that we have recently completed the formatting of the next book (in Swedish), Greve de Saint Germain – Det adertonde århundradets stora gåta (Count de Saint Germain – The Great Enigma of the Eighteenth Century) by G. Halfdan Liander.

As the quotations in the book show, Helena P. Blavatsky considered that “Count de Saint Germain was undoubtedly the greatest Western adept that Europe has seen in recent centuries.” In a similar way, according to the book, Landgrave Carl of Hesse stated about Count de Saint Gernmain that “He was perhaps one of the greatest philosophers, who ever lived. A friend of mankind, who wanted money only to give to the poor, a friend also of the animals, he had his heart focused only on making others happy.”

We intend to print the book about the Count ourselves, just as we did with Lars Adelskogh's Förklaringen (The Explanation) and Vägen och dess vandrare (The Way and Its Wanderers). Planned publication is at the end of September 2022. Beside the book, there will at the same time also be available CDs with music composed by Count de Saint Germain, in the association's bookstore.

However, the bookstore has already been expanded with two additional titles: Fjärde vägen (The Fourth Way) by P. D. Ouspensky och Kvantitetens herravälde (The Reign of Quantity) by René Guénon.

Worth thinking about

Finally, a thoughtful quote from Henry T. Laurency (L4 5.13.3) follows.

“It would be highly valuable, too, if esotericians would care to tell of their experiences, how they got into contact with the knowledge and its significance for their view on reality and life. As ignorant of life as most people are and need to be liberated from the prevalent delusions, it is desirable that all who could testify in the case did so. Observations on upbringing, education, friends, social intercourse, etc., and their effects in various respects could be very valuable from a pedagogical and psychological point of view. There are so many things that need correction and have not been elucidated correctly.”

We wish you a joyful summer with inspiring and rewarding studies of the books of Henry T. Laurency, Lars Adelskogh and other esoteric authors.
